“Dog Day Afternoon”

« Dog Day Afternoon »

I’m strolling by the river
With my faithful friend
I’d rather have a lover
Than a dog and pretend

But I’m really not that clever
I’m staring at the mutt
Who’s started to slaver
I want to kick his butt

A headache starts to hover
In the background, I can feel
I want to run for cover
Or my brain will congeal

Wish this heat was over
This throbbing in my head
Am running quite a fever
Am sure I’ll soon drop dead
